Paul D. Godec has a strong and varied background in a litigation and conflict management practice. Mr. Godec’s practice emphasizes general civil litigation before all Colorado trial and appellate courts, and before the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Recently, Mr. Godec has successfully represented employers at trials involving employment discrimination and wrongful termination matters. Mr. Godec has also successfully represented health care entities in commercial litigation, including litigation regarding the enforcement of covenants not to compete. In all instances, however, Mr. Godec strives not only to maximize positive outcomes for his clients, but also to minimize the expense and disruption associated with litigation. In many cases, Mr. Godec has steered litigation to amicable and creative resolutions quickly through various avenues of alternative dispute resolution.

Mr. Godec has extensive experience in administrative proceedings including professional misconduct proceedings before professional licensure boards; provider discipline and de-selection proceedings before committees of hospital staffs and managed care organizations; and employment discrimination proceedings before state and federal agencies. In addition, Mr. Godec has extensive experience in commercial arbitration matters involving a variety of general business and commercial valuation issues.

Mr. Godec’s experiences in conflict resolution proceedings make him uniquely qualified to advise clients on a wide range of employment and commercial contracting issues. He dispenses this advice strategically and with the goal of avoiding or minimizing the potential for future contractual disputes and disruptive litigation. Mr. Godec’s experience in conflict resolution has additionally given him tremendous insights into helping clients manage risks associated with a wide range of commercial and employment matters.

Mr. Godec’s experience prior to joining the Firm includes private practice focusing on the representation of public employees and public entities in general civil and criminal litigation, and in administrative matters. This experience includes several high profile and contentious cases involving the defense of public safety personnel in both civil and criminal matters.

Mr. Godec earned his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Rice University and his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis.
